Training for 10K

Well, its official, I am going to start running. I did a 5K on Saturday and LOVED it! I love how I felt after the race and can't wait to do it again. I did it with no training at all and still enjoyed myself and best of all, I ran the entire time!

So, I am going to follow the last 5 weeks of Hal Higdon's 10-K Training and see how I do. I am just aiming to finish the race and I think it will be a fun race. My sister and friend both run and they love it. I have had a hard time getting into it but I think I am finally starting to see the appeal!

I'll try and keep you posted on my workouts. Have a good night!

On the exercise front...

So, as you can probably tell, the exercise has not only been going poorly, it has been non-existent. (Except if you count chasing after kids and walking up and down 3 flights of stairs to get to my apartment). After doing yoga the other day, I stalled so I decided not to do it again for a while. I am thinking that if I have some very good losses at the beginning of this week, I might try some light yoga near the end. I start P3 (my next phase) and I am hoping to do yoga a lot more often. I am worried about how it will affect my stabilization but I'm sure it will only help in the long run.

Since I will be visiting family during the beginning of my P3, I am uncertain how I will be able to do yoga classes. I guess I will have to use my laptop and handy dandy netflix to do the job. I have used that in the past and it works well, really gets my muscles working. I will probably have to rely on that on walking/running while at my in-laws.

As for working out when I get home, I teach gymnastics at the local gym and with it comes a free membership. I get access to the pool, tennis courts, exercise equipment and free classes! I am so excited for ZUMBA! I miss it so much. I am going to look at the schedule and make a plan. The awesome thing about this club is that they offer childcare!! :) Gotta love it..

Well, I am sorry there is not much to report on the exercise front. In a matter of days, I will be exercising again and to be honest, I'm excited about it! I'll keep you posted!

Fitness Report - Resistance

My body feels really good. I just got done doing Yoga. I just turn on my Netflix and search for 'The Trainer's Edge: Long and Lean". Ya, the guy on it looks like a weirdo but this yoga workout feels SO good.. I love it! I couldn't keep up and didn't finish the whole thing (DS woke up).

I just love how my body feels after this workout. It isn't to cardio-heavy but my muscles are tingling right now. And it made me sweat!

If you need a good recommendation on a yoga workout, this one is good and explanatory and the difficulty level is intermediate, I would say.

Try it out if you want! I feel great!

Fitness Report - Cardio

So I did some Wii Zumba today and it felt good.. my heart felt like it would pound out of my chest! It's funny because I used to go to hour classes that were MUCH harder than this 20 minute game. It was still fun though and got me sweating. I was worried that it would stall me but luckily I had a .4 lb loss this morning.

Tomorrow I am going to try some Yoga. I love yoga and it is very relaxing so hopefully it won't be too tough on me!

Cardio.. the fun way!

Before I started such a strict nutritional diet, I loved going to Zumba class! It would KICK my butt for 1 hour and it felt so good... and it was SO much fun! While I don't think my body is quite ready for a hardcore Zumba class, I am going to start doing Zumba on my wii again. It is a little easier and I won't feel silly if I stop in between because I'm doing it in my living room! It is kind of funny when DH walks in and I am shakin' it too the latin music in front of the TV.

So my plan is to do Cardio one day, then do Resistance/Strength training the next then have a day off. I'll probably also take Sunday off too... I'll probably only have this schedule during P2 (the most stringent part of my nutritional diet) and then I'll ramp it up in P3 and P4. I really wish I could train for the half marathon in August but I just honestly don't think I'll be ready in time.

Well, today I am going to try the 20 minute work out on my Wii and see how things go. I'll let you know tomorrow if I gain, lose or stall as added exercise can cause water retention.

Have a good day and I'll keep you posted on my fitness progress!
